The captain smiled and chuckled, waving his subordinate silent.
“I won’t have any of that, soldier.”
“Not while the odds are still in our favor.”
“I don’t understand,” the soldier said.
“Can’t you see it, soldier? Out there in the stars!” The Captain pointed into the night sky off the starboard side of the ship. The soldier squinted looking at the milky way. The Captain fired his last bullet off into the stars where he was pointing. The sea ghosts and sirens reeled at the sound.
